The History Of Indigo Surf

Indigo Surf was originally a project to write songs about the Jersey Shore. We came up with several numbers that fit the bill. After a while, we came up with a surf intrumental that fit the name of the project. The original version of Indigo Surf was a break through number for us and can be found on our Raw Bar CD, Elemental Instrumental, the NESMA Sampler Vol. 2 and other sites and recordings. (The live! version is on this site.) From Sandy Hook to Cape May the Jersey Shore has 127 miles of coastline where the Atlantic Ocean hits the beach and we wanted to write songs about some of our memories. We had such a backlog of original material that we wanted to put out and several of the songs intended for the original project ended up being released on Raw Bar & Raw Bar Vol. 2. We recently uploaded a couple of unreleased songs from the original project to be heard on is site for the first time. "Wildwood" is a build-up number about cruising down the Garden State Parkway, going to Wildwood, hitting the boardwalk, meeting the girl and having a memorable time. "The Ruins Of Asbury Park" is actually a run through for the very first time and we never could recreate the energy on later recordings. It is raw and raucous but energetic. We hope to release "Indigo Surf" in the future along with other recordings. Keep On Rocking - The Chillers 2008 |
